Yoga: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

I conceive the practice of yoga as a discipline of mental training that instructs the mind while strengthening the body, providing flexibility and an integral sense of well-being.

I am a certified Yoga Teacher for children and adults on the Ashtanga tradition.

Yoga for children, teens, and families

My teaching style inspires children and teens to experience the joy of Yoga in playful and creative ways. My classes consist of a dynamic blend of animated yoga poses, Ashtanga Yoga sequences, mindful games, conscious breathing, and calming relaxation. Through my understanding of Child Psychology, my classes provide children with the opportunity to free their inner selves, improve their ability to focus, calm their minds, and develop a general sense of well-being. For more than a decade I have worked in Yoga studios, spiritual centers, and schools. I have also been the yoga instructor for the Kids and Teens Yoga programs and Summer Camps at the Key Biscayne Community Center – Key Biscayne and Directed the Yoga Program at the EnFamilia Summer Camps, in Homestead, FL.

Yoga for Adults

I offer private individual and group classes. The main purpose of my teaching approach is to encourage my students to find joy in the yoga practice and in its beneficial effect on the mind, body, and soul. According to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Yoga is defined as the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind (Yogas citta vrtti nirodhah). Fluctuations of the mind include thoughts, feelings, perceptions, emotions, memories, and misconceptions that disconnect us from the miracle of life in the present moment. When we liberate ourselves from these fluctuations of the mind, we find Samadhi, happiness, peaceful bliss, and awareness. By using breathing techniques, asanas, and by reciting or chanting Mantras, we can gradually increase our harmony and general sense of well-being.
